Mt. Rainier: Grove of the Patriarchs & Stevens Canyon

A few weekends ago, we ventured to Mt. Rainier before the hordes come to gaze at its beauty.
We went to the Stevens Canyon entrance on the Southeast side of the park...which is my favorite approach to the mountain.  But before that, we stopped to take a little walk at the Grove of the Patriarchs.  While the trees are old and cool and part of the path is a wooden walkway...
and the leaves were boasting dainty blooms...
hands down the best part was the suspension bridge across the creek!
We then drove along Stevens Ridge which offered a majestic, if cloudy view of Rainier...
As well as the craggy Tatoosh Range...(isn't craggy such a fun word?)
We were hoping to walk around Reflection Lake, but the 8+ feet of snow prevented that from happening.  Oh well, it was a gorgeous little day-trip anyway.  Do you have any fun mini trips planned lately?

SIDENOTE:  Do not bring a stroller on the Grove of the Patriarchs trail...although short and flat, tree roots and rocky patches will have you portering your little person a great deal.
