Kayak Trip: Mayfield Lake & Canyon

Last week, a friend and co-worker took me for a short kayak trip.  We spent 3 hrs paddling, snapping photos, and chatting.  It was such a beautiful evening.  Sometimes, grabbing an opportunity (even without having a plan) is just enough adventure to make for a great week.  Being out in God's creation is so inspiring for me.  There is just so much beauty in the landscape, jumping fish, and silence.

We put in around 3:30pm at Ike Kinswa State Park, careful not to startle the fish away from fishermen on the shore.

The water was like glass behind party cove.

The sun was starting to set once we got to the canyon, and the trees were golden and back lit.

And then I saw it for the first time!  The most magnificent moss waterfall I have ever seen.  The light was perfect; the water was dripping down, making the most beautiful music.   These photos don't do it justice.

It was an excellent day, and only took a week to actually post about it.  :)  But I have added 5 posts to my class website, so perhaps that is where my concentration has been.

In other news, read: job/school news, we are finishing up our last week of art history!  We are RUNNING though a survey of the most recognizable paintings throughout history.  It has been fascinating to hear students' reactions to the different artists and styles.  I'm sad to be leaving this unit behind, but new exciting adventures await.
