Roadtrip: Rapid City to Saint Paul

This is the last day of pictures, and we crossed the entirety of South Dakota this day as well as half of Minnesota!  We had just one stop this day.  Wall Drug.

Oh Wall Drug.  We saw our first sign for this empire of a store/tourist attraction about 60 miles East of Gillette, WY; 200 miles away!  But as we neared the actual drug store, there were signs around every 100 yards.  We did stop and met some very nice natives and out of towners.  Apparently, the place is well known world-wide (I've seen signs for it in Seattle) but our cashier was from Slovenia!  It was fabulous.

After Wall Drug, we found ourselves driving through a grassland (which we drove through until we hit Minnesota), but this was also part of the Badlands.  Terrible mountains, they would be so frightening if seeing them for the first time.

The sky was beautiful...because the land is so flat, you really feel like you can stretch your arms out forever.

We hit rush hour traffic in Minneapolis, and I snagged this from Jake's instagram...down town Minneapolis.

We stayed with our great-aunt (Margaret), and it was so fabulous to see her.  She took us out to dinner, talked sports and eased a bit into midwest culture.

This is where my story ends because the next day we got to Chicago and I flew home!  The trip was a great one, especially with Jake.  We both love roadtrips!  The entire time, I kept thinking about what it must have been like for those on the Oregon trail...there is so much variety in landscape from Chicago to western Washington.  It is remarkable to think of all the people that lived in these places before settlers came.
