Walk through Chehalis: to find a strange statue

As I was driving to work, I noticed something that I hadn't before.  Perhaps it is because cars are usually parked there.  Perhaps it is because I am usually lost in thought (while still focused on driving of course).  No matter the reason, I noticed this funny little sculpture tucked between hedges at the end of a street.

Naturally, after work that day I had to take a little walk in that direction to investigate.  It is like a little piece of professor meets Easter Island...placed sorta near the entrance to a juvenile detention center.  I have no idea if it is connected with the center.  There was no plaque (did you know that plaque and tooth plaque are spelled the same?  yes I had to look up the spelling).  Just a hidden gem.

Any thoughts or ideas about the origin, let me know.

  1. Hmm....that is quite an odd find. I'll have to notice it next time I'm there.

  2. I love that you took the time to go back after work and look at it more closely. Take time to stop and smell the roses...(the statues?)
