I'm moving on...

-->As you may know, I have relocated since September, an this is the reason posts have been nonexistent. Aside from adjusting to the changes that a major move can bring, I am also fighting an internet connection from….you know where. Lebanon has been my residence since September 18th. Let me just say that it has been an adventure thus far…full of ups and downs.

Here are a few up of the ups:
- Beautiful new color palette, warm neutrals, lush greens and reds
- Sunsets every evening over the Mediterranean (just outside my window)
- New friends who are amazing
- Spiritual growth
- There are olive groves everywhere!!!
Here are a few of the downs:
- No chocolate chip cookies and milk :)
- Arabic is very difficult to learn (but I am 300% better than when I arrived!)
- A new set of cultural rules that I don’t always understand

But to just give you a small taste of the beauty I am experiencing here…
A few weeks ago, some friends and I went for a long walk. We traveled around the countryside of Lebanon, along a river…crossing the cool water when we needed a break for our dusty feet…picking wild figs, pomegranates, and grapes as we needed energy…we wound to the top of a hill that led to an amazing view of hills and valleys as they dipped into green trees, with ochre rocks speckling the hills, red rooftops clustered in small villages along the ridges…it was a sight for sore eyes…and feet.

Of course it isn’t exactly as described above…I left out a few key parts like…we ran out of water, someone’s shoe sole tore off, mosquitoes were eating us alive, and I almost stepped on a squished kitten…but some things are best left unsaid, as they tend to ruin the moment. :)
