Summer Bridal Shower

Yesterday, as I was driving home from town, it was warm, very warm. Warm enough to make those tar bubbles rise on the road. Those tar bubbles that pop and crackle as you walk, ride, or drive over them. That is one of my favorite summer moment, among others. But those tar bubbles, they have a very distinct smell, one of those summer smells that I would love to bottle, and open in the depths of dismal winter. Not to have for perfume or anything, but just as a reminder that the sun is on its way.

But in other news, a friend of mine is getting married in late August. (as we are currently amid the throes of wedding season) We had her bridal shower last Saturday. The setting was beautiful, Koppert Lake. The weather was gorgeous (sun filtering through trees down to our grassy knoll) Delicious Greek chicken pitas. Bounteous wild flowers picked from neighbor's fields and along roadsides. Pies, pies and more pies...apple, rhubarb, blackberry, cherry, peach, fruit tarts... As well as tubs filled with water and Thomas Kemper Soda. Not to mention the friends and family that showed up to support our Bride-to-Be.

  3. It was a beautiful shower! And what made it so good was that slong with the wonderful flowers, food, and surroundings, were the relationships between the women, young and old, coming together to celebrate one of our own entering marriage.
